The Gathering Grounds
The Gathering Grounds
The Gathering Grounds is a new, dedicated space at MagicCon that is open to all attendees! Designed to celebrate everything that makes us different and lift up those from historically marginalized and underrepresented groups, this is a place to gather, play games, make new connections, promote organizations and more!
We are thrilled to share the organizations that we have partnered with to participate in this space. Learn more about them below and be sure to stop by during the weekend:
Extra Life
Extra Life is a fundraising program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® that engages the gaming community. Extra Lifers fundraise year-round to Change Kids’ Health to Change the Future. Donations go to support local children’s healthcare to fund critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services, along with innovative research, vital pediatric medical equipment, and patient support services such as child life. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised over USD 132 million to Change Kids' Health to Change the Future. Right now, children's hospitals need YOUR support.
Wizards Pride
Wizards Pride is dedicated to making Wizards of the Coast a LGBTQ+ inclusive workplace. As an employee resource group, we work to ensure that LGBTQ+ employees feel seen, supported, and celebrated-both within the company and in the broader community. Beyond our internal efforts, Wizards Pride actively engages in work for and in the community, including outside partnerships, annual participation in Seattle Pride and our yearly charity campaigns.
Women of Wizards
Women of Wizards is an employee resource group at Wizards of the Coast committed to supporting the growth and success of women and gender-diverse employees. Our mission is to build an inclusive and supportive workplace by fostering mentorship, career development, and leadership opportunities. Through connection, collaboration, and open dialogue, we aim to empower our members and contribute to a more welcoming and equitable culture — both at Wizards and within the gaming industry.
Women+ in Magic
Founded in 2024 but already making waves, Women+ in Magic (WIM) is a platform and community dedicated to creating online and offline safe and inclusive spaces for women and gender diverse players, and to inform others on how to make shared spaces more welcoming and fun for all.
WIM works from four core ideas: 1. Creating safe spaces online and in person, 2. Building community and confidence through meetups and support, 3. Reentering mixed spaces together, to boost the number of women+ at events and 4. Getting men on board: by helping them recognize unsafe situations and encouraging them to speak up when it counts
You’ll find WIM on Discord, Instagram, and other apps, regularly organizing events and connecting players. Whether it’s learning to untap, upkeep, and draw, or just finding your crew, WIM is here to make Magic more fun and more inclusive, for everyone.
Preators For Change
Preators For Change is a team of queer and trans Magic: The Gathering players who raise money for good causes and play a lot of Phyrexian EDH while doing it. Formed in 2022, the group has raised over $30k for charitable causes with organizations such as the Transgender Education Network of Texas, the ACLU, Crisis Text Line, and Stream For A Cause. Historically, PFC has utilized Twitch as their platform of choice for hosting their weekend-long marathons of Commander, which feature almost exclusively decks with Phyrexians in the Command Zone. These events prioritize fun, safety, and the fostering of a communal energy focused on doing the most good. The year of 2025 has seen PFC's eighth such event, and also marks an exciting shift in direction as the team expands its numbers, as well as the overall intentions of the positive impact Praetors For Change seeks to have on the community that has formed around it. An in person presence at Magic Con Atlanta is a bold, new mission - but it is only the first small step as it gears up for one giant leap into what comes next.
